weekend 2

On Friday my grandparents picked me up from school!! I WAS SO HAPPY! :) they picked me up and then we went to my piano class and then just relaxed and played Phase 10... my dad won :) Then we all watched Avatar, and once again I cried at the end :(... it's so sad!!
On Saturday i woke up sick... I couldn't talk I was dizzy and my whole body hurt :( thankfully it got a bit better but not that much. We celebrated Mother's Day on Sat. since my grandma was here. We got my mom a necklace that I think she really enjoyed. We also went to this beautiful river where we all had a delicious picnic and we all got soaking wet!!! That was the best part! We came home and we all rested and had a really good dinner.
Now today (Sunday) I have to go to violin from 1:30-who knows what time. Today is my violin concert where we're going to play Beethoven's First Symphony!! I am so excited I can hardly wait! I still feel sick today but just my throat hurts. I'm going to try my hardest to not talk (which might be a tad hard) :). Well wish me luck!!

I hope everyone had a great weekend as well! :)

weekend

Well, what can I say about my weekend... On Friday I went to piano right after school and then immediately went to ballet from 5:00-11:00!!!! I was so tired once I got home and went to bed quickly!
SATURDAY:
On Saturday I woke up at 11:00 (obviously) and just helped around the house and relaxed. At 1:00 I had pointe class until 2:00 and got 3 blisters... OUCHIE!! My mom then went on a couple of errands with my dad and got my friend (Elizabeth) a gift for her birthday. I then had to go back to ballet again 5:00-11:00... we had lots of fun and we all celebrated Elizabeth's 13th birthday which was really fun! :) I came home and once again immediately fell asleep... nitey nite!
SUNDAY:
Today I woke up at 8:00 to wish my mom a happy mother's day! She read my poem and loved it soooo much. My friend Hannah and her brother Hunter came over and we played for a less than an hour and had a water fight which was really fun. I then went out to lunch with my mom and dad and relaxed after that. I went to violin at 4:00 and caught up with my friend Ilexis... :)
Right now I'm reading some of my book! BYE BYE! :)

BRAINOLOGY (module 1 & 2)

Brainology has made a real big difference for me and it has motivated me to work hard on all my projects and regular work. The most important "hint" I will always remember, are positive thoughts. I would always say I would fail on a test I was just about to take, and then I usually wouldn't have done the best I could have done. Recently, I have been thinking positive thought and square breathing and have gotten better test scores.
Also, I put in what I really enjoy into writing. Since I don't really like writing, inserting things i do like to do helps me enjoy writing a lot more. Whenever I have nothing to write about I could write about traveling or dancing.
Finally, Brainology has put a great impact on not only me but also on whole Room 14. So, THANK YOU BRAINOLOGY!

Book Critique (Dragon Road)

A dream that becomes achieved with a basketball and teamwork. This perfectly describes the novel Dragon Road by Laurence Yep. This story is an amazing realistic fiction that keeps you hooked with the very first sentence. Numerous children and maybe some young teens would really enjoy this novel, since hey can relate to it so easily. One of the main characters, Barney, quotes, "Everybody need somebody." This quote very much relates to the main themes of the story, importance of family and teamwork. Calvin (a.k.a Flash), who is the main character, becomes a major basketball player from Chinatown. With the help of his basketball team, Jean, and Grandpa Joe he finally comes across the true meaning of basketball and importance of family. This fabulous story takes place in many different settings., all over America, Chinatown, and many different basketball courts. Although most of his novels are about magic and ballet, this story, Dragon Road, is all about basketball. Reading this book was very different than his other stories but, in conclusion it was a very good story.

Dragon Road is a novel that has many strong points theoughout the story. A very strong point of the story is, how Calvin learns hot to use teamwork. Occasionally, ebing under the spotlight can be a good thing, but in Calvin's case he learns how to share it. Basketball isn't a one man show, everybody has to be part of the game. In the beginning, Calvin takes all the spotlight for himself without sharing with his friends. Once Barney starts to slip away from Calvin, he finally learned that it was time for him to care and share. Overall, this was the strongest point of the story.

Dragon Road is strongly recommended for young audiences and has an important fact of life that most children go thorough. Calvin used to take all the spotlight for himself. Once children reach 7th or 8th grade, they want to be the center of everything. Reading this story can really show them what to do and what not to do with chracters that fascinate them. In conclusion, Dragon Road is an amazing novel that so many children will love.

Neighbors Quickie Blog

Neighbors, The destruction of the Jewish community in Jedwabne Poland, by Jan T. gross is an extremely powerful book. This story has 173 pages (without pictures and glossary) filled with information about the war, murder, and after the war for Jews. Neighbors has an important "moral" to teach, it wasn't the Poles or Germans that killed Jews it was their neighbors. Which means their friends or neighbors could have spoken and said this is wrong but instead they remained silent. This is a sad and heartbreaking story to read but it is about what really happened to Jews.
